“O mankind, indeed We created you from a male and a female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another.”

Surah Al Hujurat 49:13

POTLUCK

Our community is beautifully diverse. Different cultures, languages, histories, and journeys; all gathered under one roof in the month of mercy. We want our tables to reflect that richness. Food prepared with love, served with dhikr, and shared with sincerity.

Allah says in the Qur’an:

“O mankind, indeed We created you from a male and a female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another.”

Surah Al Hujurat 49:13

What better way to know one another than through food. Through recipes passed down generations. Through spices that travelled continents. Through dishes that carry stories.

Sharing food is a deeply rooted practice in Islam. The Prophet ﷺ encouraged feeding others, especially those who are fasting. Iftar shared is reward multiplied. A table shared is hearts softened.

So let us organise it well; so the love is felt and the chaos is minimal.

Guidelines

  1. Bring a dish to share

Please bring something that comfortably serves 6 to 8 people. Think generous portions, not symbolic gestures.

  2. Keep it halal

All food must be halal. No alcohol in ingredients. Simple rule; no awkward surprises.

  3. Homemade or shop bought is welcome

Not everyone has time to slow cook a family recipe. Good quality shop bought food is absolutely fine.

  4. Label your dish clearly

Please write the name of your dish and attach a clear ingredient label.

  5. Bring serving utensils

If your dish needs a spoon, tongs, or ladle, please bring it with you.

  6. Arrive on time

Please arrive before iftar or the main serving time so food can be arranged properly.

  7. Inform staff on arrival

Let a team member know what you have brought so we can place it appropriately and help manage dietary needs.

  8. Take your dishes home

Label your containers and remember to collect them at the end.

Potluck Submission Forms

To help us balance the table and avoid accidental dessert domination, please complete the correct form for the date you are attending. Let us know exactly what you are bringing so we can coordinate properly.

Please fill in the form before the event so we do not end up with ten chocolate cakes and one chicken wrap.
